well set a couple goals one 2 wheaties and number two 80 coins. I knew in the forest preserve it would not be easy. Today I avoided the wooded area and hit the fields I saw the kids playing soccer over the weekend. Well zero wheaties and 68 coins later the trip ended. The temperature went up to 90 degrees...and that was it! :( Well when I got home heard it is supposed to rain heavily for the first time in 6 weeks...we need it! :)

If the area you're mding in a preserve, you might want to check with the local popo to see if you can. good luck.

That's a great haul! Can you tell me what the rules are for hunting in forest preserves in your area? I know that in Lake County detecting is pretty much off limits. I learned that the hard way with a "written warning" a couple of weeks ago. You are allowed to detect in the park, but you can't dig and you can only detect if you are looking for something that you lost, not recovering things that others have lost..it's pretty lame.

Nice finds Gregg, you get some rain and some cooler weather and those 100+ coin days might be 125 coin days because the heat hasn't drained you as bad...10,000 is just around the bend...

At least you hit my "goal:" Coming back with more than you went with. :D Or, maybe you had a 20 dolla bill in your pock...then that wouldn't hold true. LMAO

Yeah well I am looking for something someone else lost! :D When they tell me to stop I will...not going back till next vacation in October...they see me...seem ok...if I was fishing they would have asked me for a permit I am sure! :D

DFX, here in my area the Forest Preserves are Off Limit also We can walk in them but no detectors allowed.
You might want to check things out there, before its to late. HH and a nice group of finds.

Good work as usual Gregg........it's clad madness buddy.

Good haul anyway, even if the wheats eluded you. The heat is really cutting down the detecting time here too.

Thanks everyone...hopefully rain is on the way for everyone who needs it. :)

The rain you said you might get will soften the ground for you to really "pop" them coins out much faster next time you go. Good job on getting at least 60 coins...not your goal of 100, but 60+ more than you had the day before, making it less coins to your 10G count. Congrats!!! :)

Way to dig em Gregg! Those are some dirty looking coins, hope you do get rain soon. Its supposed to rain here in Michigan later today. It was 90 yesterday and I doubt its much over 70 today. The next 5 or 6 days will be in the upper 60's & low 70's...fall is here!
