Greetings All-
Despite the 90+ degree temps, I was itching to get out in the woods to do some detecting. And sometimes you just need to scratch that itch.
After digging some iffy signals (lead...lead...nail...head stamp), I ran across a beautiful, deep sounding tone with a VDI of 94. It was one of those signals that you just know ( hope) is going to be something great. This time it was. Out popped a pretty beat up 1900 Barber half dollar. I've only ever dug two other Barber halves, so this find was pretty exciting.

My goal for this outing was to find a silver coin, so " Mission Accomplished". The rest of the hunt produced some other keepers, including a British half penny, and IHP, and a fancy colonial era knee buckle. As you might know from a bunch of previous posts, shoe buckles and knee buckles are some of my most favorite things to dig.
As you can see, all three coins have seen better days. The large copper is especially toasty, but if you squint, you can sort of see a bust looking right in the first pic, and the outline of Britania in the second. At any rate , it was a great day of detecting for me. Hope you area all doing well, and enjoying the summer. Cheers!
