Fors Core help needed.!.

I got my Core and have had it out a few times now. I'm needed tips in the mid tone range...what should I be looking at in the vdi number range?, And what metal sound off in this tone? Also what setting are you guys running?
What about id masking? Say I run it at 40 for no iron and cross a gold item that has a reading of 40?

The Fors Core and the Fors Gold are basically the same machine except the CoRe has a beach mode.
