Fossil Found in New Mexico, Hatch

I was out metal detecting in new mexico for two weeks and stumbled across this.... note that i did and not my metal detector. any clues as to what it is? its surely fossilized. i dont know anything about fossils but i know this is... its hard as rock and weighs much more than it should. thank you for any help gents

It does look like some sort of 'Fossilized bone', how big was it?

its about as big as both my fists
 
There is tones of agatized bone in the hatch and demning area, usually they are in the gravels.
 
While, I'm not much on vert stuff...

It appears to be a chert nodule, not fossil. Harry would know!
