These are large broken blades made of Coastal Plains chert. They all broke where a shell was imbedded in the material.

Coastal Plains Chert. Really cool. I assume FL? Is that common?

I wonder how much they hated those when making their points, I have to imagine they’d ruin your ability to continue to work the piece at the least and likely just break along the shell.

So cool! Thanks for posting! I have to imagine that being able to complete a good ceremonial point with inclusions like that would really be a 5-star effort, no? (not implying that these are ceremonial)

Fossil spiral shell in this broken Thonotosassa point. It is full of minute crystals.
