Hey Suzy, I picked up many of the petrified clams in your top right pic at cousins property outside Austin last September. In March went to Dallas/ Ft Worth and visited a old cleared landfill that you can collect fossils for free. 2 hours I found alot of crinoid stems.
I started rockhounding last year and is now hobby B. Did the geode fest in Keokuk Iowa last Sept. Had a great time and heading back in less than 2 weeks on the 26th. Also enjoyed the Mt. Ida crystal fest in Hot Springs last year and plan on going this year. Do you know of either? I'll drive to Ok for Selenite sometime in Nov. at some salt flats, before snow issues. That'll be a first. Heard collecting is ez and fruitfull.

Love the little fossilized clams, they always reminded me of little demon heads, some of them even have the pointy looking eyes. Im weird!

NOR: hey - thanks for posting. I'm new to all of this I've gone to the show in Glen Rose, Tx and that's about it so far. It is all fascinating to me! And A.: I love those too some do indeed look like impish devil heads but I have one that reminds me of a bear and since I have a bear phobia I think that one is special. No your not weird or we all are post some of your finds!

My wife is always laughing on me. I like to hike. When I go out I have a backpack mostly full of water. When I get done, the water is gone but the backpack is full of fossils and rocks. It gets heavier instead of lighter.

By the way, tell me about the brown/rusty colored rock in the bottom photo. Is the interior really soft like chalk? If so, that is a concretion I am pretty sure, aka Indian paint pot.

I don't think these all came out of the river, but it doesn't matter.They are all Glen Rose limestone fossils. Google Glen Rose Fossils if you want tne proper latin names. The ones in pic 3 are nicknamed Texas Hearts. The bivalves(clams) look like they have never been exposed before. The seams(?) are too sharp. Pic 5 looks like two pieces of ammonites. Google that to see what a whole one looks like. They are hard to chop out of limestone rock, but worth the effort. Very nice collection.
What I wanted to ask was are you the person who had the rock with the rusty looking thing inside it? There is a pic of that too. Amazing what it might be.

Some came out of walls by the river yes, I found the piece. It is softer on inside here are more photos of it ... Is this it?

Yes I knew that some of those fossils were dug and are in pristine condition. No, I was talking about a light colored rock with a dark something on it. It may not have been your post. Sorry.
