Hey everyone,

I was working nights last week and had to get out a few more times before the snow hit over the weekend and the temps dropped into the negatives.

It was slow going with two or three inches of snow on the ground that hinders swinging. But i hung in there at an old cabin site dated 1813 and hit this really nice indian with the dues in 4khz.

Also pulled a buffalo that day as well. Got out one other day close to home at a cellar site managed a few relics pictured and on the way out recovered a token aluminum dated 1904.

I would say the season is on hold here now in pa. Just getting to cold and snowy to be swinging. But hopefully it gets back into the 30's and i can get back out with no snow on the ground.

Thanks for looking.

Jeremy

That is a danged purdy old dirty penny.

That coin looks great. Little wear on it, so I bet it was lost early on. Congrats!

Thank you guys for all the replies.

It was given a peroxide bath mutiple times. Took a hr or two to restore it. After getting it cleaned as best as possible i gently applied a safe for all metals polish and tooth picked it again.

No the overall pic doesnt show the indian thats a dirty buffalo. The token is some type of merchandise token good until 1904 for some store in downtown pittsburgh.

Yeah i know this weather is all over the place. Sucks to because its gonna get cold again.

Here is a pic of the back side as requested.

I know some would disagree. But, I’d rather have a coin like that with the beautiful patina on it than one in the same shape that was shiny new looking. Good find!

That’s s beauty man. My Indian heads are either destroyed or beautiful like that. Not much in between. Not sure why.

That is one very nice IHP!

Now post your address so we can all send our crusty indians to you for restoration. LoL!

Congrats! That Indian head cent is fantastic! :occasion14:

Let me add to the chorus - That's a beautiful penny!

Thank you for all the replies guys.

Yes, Most of mine here are pretty crusty also. Rims are always broken etc. I usually date them and if I see a key date or semi key date I will take the time to save them cleaning them by hand. But if they are commons I send them through the tumbler.

I agree that dark patina is really nice on those coins. That chocolate brown really makes them look good.

Yes, send me all the Indians you got. I will only keep the 60's and 70's one's and send you back the 80's 90's and turn of the centuries lol.

Indians are always nice to dig. I have found a lot of them over the years. But cannot find the 77. One day maybe.
