I found an 1865 IHC at a baseball field last evening and this morning I found an 1896 IHC at a different field! The 1865 is pretty toasted, but the 1896 isn't bad at all. Only the second and third IHC's I've ever found in 14 months of detecting!

Here's some pics:

Great finds the IHs. Congrats!

I have one, looking for more!

great finds on the IH, you are doing a lot better than me, congrats

Congrats on the double IH cent find! If you don't mind...just how deep were they? Thanks in advance and also for sharing..enjoyed them very much...ddf

The 1865 was 7 inches down and the 1896 was 6 inches down. Both were very strong signals on my Ace 250. I had the setting on the "jewelry" mode and the sensitivity was one notch from the max.

The 1865 was at a ballfield built in the 1980's, which was a huge surprise! The 1896 was at a very old field where I've found two pre-1800 half reals, so that wasn't as much of a surprise.

Good stuff man! Congrats!

Soak em in mineral oil and use a toothbrush I think there's more to your earlier IH than you think.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot.

Very nice Indian Head Cent coins, I agree with Mackdog, your coin has allot more detail there. Maybe try to use a toothpic, a toothpic will clean off crud allot better than a toothbrush. Sometimes that dirt is like concrete and won't come off without force. Sometimes corrosion looks like coin. If not removed it will continue to eat your coin. NGC use acetone, then xylene baths to preserve coins. Everyone has there own cleaning methods and opinions, I'm not saying anyone is wrong. Just how I like to do mine. Allot of people say they love that green patina on there copper/brass coin, but I know that green is eating my coin.

Love them indians! Awesome finds

I hope you find more Indian Head cents in that Baseball field.
