Found : 38 calib Pistol & Iron knuckles !!! Token cleaned

Hope everyone has had a great morning Well the frost is retreating in the mountains of Colorado. went to an old mining camp to play a little this morning. It was a pretty uneventful few hrs,then I got a large iron signal,decided to dig it , Good thing I did !!!! I'm sure I dont have to explain here,the feeling I got when I realized I was holding a pistol & a set of iron knuckles They seemed to be wrapped in some kind of cloth when they were buried. almost refilled the hole,rechecked it a got a good signal turned out there was a brass maverick billiard hall token also Your guess is as good as mine as to ,how ,when & who buried a pistol,knuckles,& a token together. I have got one cylinder open (no bullet) the barrel is open,and the brass site is visible & green, I know the gun is in baaad shape but it is cleaning up nice . Enjoy, PPC

Not Hozart, it's actually Mozart, and it's from Cripple Creek, CO. 1914-1915.
Is it Good For 5cts.? If so, now 6 known.
Any other denomination, and it would be the only one known to exist.
Man, I think you have one Hell of a great find.
Seeing if there are any records of a possible robbery there, that may take some time.
I live and breathe tokens, and finding what you found would make my year.

Carl,I forgot to tell you,& thought you'd like to know. There is a Mozart Billiard Hall,GW Perry token that is unlisted,it actually says "Cripple Creek" not a maverick. Think I have a pic somewhere,will try to find it for you

These may have been buried by a criminal or someone hiding them from a criminal.

Yeah there's only one good reason to bury your weapons like that.....and that is, you just used them and don't want to get caught with them. I'd love to know what happened!

Good Morning Carl ! & thanks ! You are right on with the date of 1914 & Cripple Creek,,,, But with all due respect,I have to disagree with 6 known,there are more than that out there. Im pretty new here on Tnet, just found the my best finds page,Please keep an eye on it this weekend,& I will post some pic's of a coffee can cache of over 100 trade tokens I found in 1996.I have been very blessed with tokens over the years,& have found quite a few unlisted ones. PPC

The six known, counting yours, was based on Stuart's token book, and that count will always change.

You found a coffee can full of tokens??!!

Morning Carl, I dont know why stuart even put those numbers in the book,because they are so missleading ! I have a pretty big list of unlisted tokens for him as well. Well going to play today.will talk soon . PPC

We need to possibly trade lists, I've been trying to get a more accurate compiled listing.
Especially any mavericks that you think may be from Colorado, especially Denver.

I found a Derringer in an old privy many ,many,years ago,and now this one,,,,but I gotta say the knucks were a BIG surprise !

those are neat, if only they could talk. I wonder if they belonged to some gambler or mobster that carried them at all times in case of a jam. Either way, it's neat history, and that's what MDing is all about. Looks like u had a great day.

Now that is an Awesome find ! I like finding things like this and if you work at it you might be able to get some numbers off the pistol , that would be awesome as you could find some data on it , well maybe !
