I found this buckle in a small clearing next to the Resaca de la Palma Battlefield. I was not sure what it was until I cleaned it up . I think it is from the battle that took place there in May 9, 1846. I found it about 7 inches and it registered as a 50 cent on the Ace 250. I have yet to confirm if it is from the battle . It has silver plate on the front and back and along the edges I see gold plate. Other than the plating I see no other markings.

Wow, that buckle would have made a good target to aim at with a musket.

Don't have any ideas about it but neat find just the same.

Thanks for sharing and good luck

Never seen a buckle like that before. I'd post it over in the what is it forum. Looks like some kind of car part to me.

I may be off on this but it sure looks to me like part of an old face plate from a car radio. That hole is where the knob on one side would go through. Yes? No?
