Went back to the spot where I found the Civil War pocket knife yesterday and managed a couple of good finds. The first is a very small Conestoga bell. Only 2" high and I think it's bronze. The clapper was still inside, but no longer attached. Only my second bell in 3 1/2 years of metal detecting.
The second find appears to be a wagon tie-down, but I'm not positive. Maybe used to tie down the reins of a horse or a mule walking behind the wagon? Just a guess on my part. Let me know if you think that's a good guess.
