I was able to get a permission of a former confederate artillery fort, and I found a blown confederate friction primer, and weirdly enough, in the same fort, this fired .44 pistol round ball that I believe would have been shot out of colt 1860 army. What's interesting, is that the only soldiers who carried pistols were officers and cavalry. Use your imagination on why it was fired literally inside the fort 😆. Anyways, I'm going to be back, and I will post my finds! I also posted a non fired example primer.

The pistol ball looks to be a "dropped" round instead of a fired round.

Hopefully this picture does it justice. See how it’s malformed like it’s been in a barrel. And there’s very slight rifling you can kinda see.

if you can get a weight it will tell you diameter. Between patina and those flat spots, hard to get a true diameter. Also the 12:00 in your last picture looks like a sprue. Hard to tell from the angle of the pic.
