Found a Diamond at the crater

Well we headed for the Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas on the evening of the 8th. It is a 11 hour drive from Illinois. We had a camp site reserved at the State Park. It was a pretty nice place to stay. I really enjoyed camping there. Well here is the diamond that I found while in Arkansas.

We were able to hunt on the 10th and the 11th Mother's Day since we could only stay a short time. The weather was great. It was 85 degrees and sunny both days. We were lucky in some sense that it rained on the evening of the 10th because when we went back on the 11th, Here is the diamond I found.

we were able to bring home a couple of 5 gallon buckets of cleaned gravel and I found 2 more small diamonds and a garnet.

I have always thought this would be great fun, now you should go off to the gold fields.

Hogge- I have heard that NC is easier to find gems then the Crater of Daimonds. The ones I found are very small. there are 100 points in a carat and mine are 13 points or less.

When we got there My husband told me that he got me a diamond for Mother's day but I had to go find it. So I did.

My wife and I are talking about going down to NC to emerald hunt also.

looks like ya had a blast!! only way i would know a stone was a diamond would be to take the wife along she smells them really well when we go past a jewelry store.

Nice diamonds for Moms Day. My wife and I hunted at the Emerald Hollow Mine in Hiddenite NC and had fun. It is some work but sluicing is fun and cool in the summer. We bought the buckets of dirt for $5, and $25 and my wife found a small stone that would be GEM quality. Emeralds are everywhere there, but...gem quality is rarer. Lots of fun though and we would go back but gas cost is higher now.
