Found a misstrike....what it worth?

I found a 1985?? nickel with a misstrike. The 5 is half missing and could be a 3. What is it worth? I just think it is kind of cool.

Without seeing it (why are photos never posted with error questions) I'd have to say it's simply a disfigured five or three done by the machines that roll the coins at the mint, also pretty common and not an error. Final digits in dates are always victims of this. I have a 1941 penny where the final "1" is practically at a slant because of this.

However, it there's no accompanying damage visible (scrape marks, etc.) it could be a filled die (either dirt or grease gunking up the date part of the die) which causes parts of the design to come out faintly, partially or not at all. Letters and numbers are prone to this. In this case it would be an error with minimal value, maybe a dollar or two.

I'm sorry the camera broke. Let me explain further. The whole face of the coin is off so that the 5 is cut in half to only show the bottom of the number. I hope that helps

Are you talking about an off-center strike?

the face is off by about 1/8th of an inch.

It's probably worth more to you than anyone else.

I found this one on eBay that is more off center than yours. It has not attracted any bids with an opening bid price of $4.99.
