Ok maybe not rare, but we hardly ever find them so they must be kinda rare right! 
I took a friend from church detecting for his first time ever. We just did some school yards and a tot lot to dig clad so he could learn the machine I let him borrow. Also so he could learn pinpointing and recovery. The half I found looks like it was dropped in the sand by the swings just a few days ago.
Dug 47 clad and a couple buttons and plenty of junk. Had fun with a friend.

Ya had me all excited about seeing a 1877 Indian or a 1914 D wheatie or something of that sort. Ok, I'll forgive ya, this time. 
well those don't pop up every day....missed the 40 percenter by one year....still shiny, sounds like you had fun....good deal! 
Some kid probably cried a long time after losing that one.
