Found a strange shaped point part.....idea's ? And question.......:)

...I found this and it sure looks like part of a arrowhead...but never found one this shape before. What do you all think? While I'm at it I have a question.....I hear/read you guys talking about what the points are called, what kinds they are.....are the obsidian we find called anything other than just "Obsidian"? This is probably a stupid question...but "learning"...lol

RSCN8199.webp RSCN8200.webp....thanks :angel3:

You bet it's part of a point. If it's small could be an Eastgate, bigger could be a funky elko. There are lots of different colors and types of obs with many different names.

Typology Kat. Everything is usually something if it has a base or notches. Sometimes it is just hard to reconstruct after hundreds or thousands of years. Your "obsidian" is a highly sought after material for types. You have good stuff.

it's a fragment but would have picked it up for sure

welsbury....thank you for that great information :icon_thumright:...I looked at pictures and it is a piece of a "Eastgate" point, very interesting!

ncnurseryman....yes, I guess so.

Tnmountains....good word "typology", it's how I looked it up...thank you.:)

Larson....yah...glad I did pick it up, almost didn't...lol
