Found at site of an old 1812 British soldiers camp in Canada????

I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me what I found on the weekend. The site is where the British soldiers camped in 1812 here in Canada. What I know it was a very large camp. It looks like maybe a pole went through it?? Maybe for a flag?? Or maybe its not of that era?? I'm hoping it is. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you in advance..........

By a river?? Looks like a socket for an oar lock.
