Found at Vicksburg area site

Here's a brass piece I found in a camp yesterday. The attachment hook is broken but the studs are still visible so I know it's a buckle. Is this military? It has 8 stars on the piece.

Yes, there was an old house site there along with civil war artifacts. I did find a couple of minie balls. I’m sure the old house pre-dated the war.

It's 3'' in length. You can see the remains of the attachment device on the back.

It’s thin enough to bend. I actually hit it with my when I dug it and bent it out.

IMO - Ladies oval sash buckle. Late 19th C.

Due to how thin it is and size. Id say a civilian sash buckle but of course the CS used what they had available. Speculate till we get a exact ID.
