Found this next to an abandoned railroad bed. It's approximately 8 inches long and made of copper. One end has a slight curve, but I'm not sure if it was made that way or if it was damaged. Any ideas what it might be?

Looks like an old soldering iron that would have originally had a wooden handle.

If it is it's a very old one. In the late 1800's they started using a copper end on an iron shaft. Then again it could be part of a lightning rod? Tony
