Detector(s) used
Minelab E-trac
In 1988, I moved a log house to property on which the "Great Trail" crossed. The trail ran from Fort Duquesne (later Fort Pit) to Fort Lawrence near where I now live. The two forts date to the Revelutionary war. Lawrence being the only revolutionary fort built in what is now Ohio.

For this reason, I decided to buy my first metal detector. My detector came in the mail, I added batteries, and within the first hour found this gun. This is the reason I still metal detect today........It burned a bug deep into me! lol

I have no idea if this gun is from a coon hunter loosing it in 1960, or a soldier from 1778. It obviously isn't a muzzel loader, so I would think somewhere in between. can anybody help me with make and age please?

It just covers an 8 1/2" X 11" piece of paper.

Thanks, Tim

Hey Tim, I ran around Navarre and East Sparta a lot. I worked at Bear Creek Steak House as a meat cutter and at Superior Meats before I enlisted into the army. Came to Germany with the army and met my German wife. I am doing well here and still work for the US army as a contractor maintaining battle tank simulators. I'll try to PM you tomorrow and give you a few ideas where to detect in the area, you may already know them. Fort Laurens is really off limits unless you want to contribute/help the museum and club that maintains the grounds, not a bad idea really as it could open doors and properties to detect. HH, Mike

I used to have a 22 cal survival gun that looked like that . It was a break open action that held one 22 call bullet. What size about is the hold in the end of the barrel. My pistol was in the 50's if i remember

You may never get a response. The original poster hasn't logged on his site in five years. This is a nine year old thread.
