Can you give some more info, like measurements and composition? Also where is the field that this was found in....what state?

At first glance it looked like a snake rattler.

Looks like a fossil of a snake or maybe a shellfish of some sort

It could be the handle of a cobra head cane.

It's a fossil, it measures from the bottom of my hand to about the middle of my index finger. Its about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide, it has the same pattern on the front and the back, I'm just trying to figure out what it is, or how old?

its a burrow from a fossil i forget the name off hand

I would have to agree. Your friends piece is just the center of the trilobite.

Hey, that looks like the tread pattern of Bigfoots running shoes. I wondered how he moved so fast in those pictures on TV.

Nice find!!

Cephalopod. Cephalopods ate trilobites. They were mollusks and very similar to a modern day nautilus. If it is a trilobite I will eat it.
