Pretty sure it's iron. Maybe a decorative finial? Just kind of big though.

What context was it found in... is the field a naturalized park now, was there a homestead site originally located close by? :icon_scratch:
Most or the items we find detecting are often directly related to the type of activity that happened in the area in the past.
I find that tumbling my more interesting iron items often tells me a lot more about them when they're clean.

This is why doing prior research and having some knowledge of your areas history is important prior to detecting. :thumbsup:
