I found this in a field south of Lawrence Kansas about 5 years ago near a creek that was being graded for a culvert for a driveway. I thought it might be some of Quantril's loot from when he sacked Lawrence in the 1860's. If so, there may be more!!
On the front it says, "San-Marc_Ven II". On the back it says, "DALMA-(??)T-A(??)AN".
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Scott

A google serch found this:

"Venice; copper coin (17th century þ) DALMA/E.T/ALBAN SAN*MARC*VEN/II." But, there was no picture to go with it... maybe yours is a token?

Still looking... do think it is copper? Or made of... ??

It's a coin struck by the DALMA Initiative, a group of 15th century researchers who set up a research center to investigate various phenomenon on an island in the heart of Venice. No one has seen them since. Or have they...

Yes it is copper. It's about the size of a nickel. When Quantril sacked Lawrence, his men took everything they could carry. After leaving Lawrence(heading south) some may have stopped at the creek to water their horses and bury some loot as pursuers would soon be close on their heels....To this day there is no mention of any large caches of this loot being recovered. There are however many stories that can be researched concerning this tale.
Thanks!

Montana Jim, by jove I think that's it! How in the world did you find that web site? Ain't the internet a wonderful thing? And to think some would abuse it with porn and all that crap!
I don't speak Italian, but I assume that the piece is fairly rare. Rarity "C". And was that a valuation of 115.00 something? Lira?
How would I go about authenticating it? Selling it?
Once again Montana Jim, Thanks Brother!

No problem... I enjoy the challange, and don't have any books to help so I just surf surf surf... and am pretty good at searching.

I have no idea the value or where to get it authenticated, but might find some kind of free on-line translator and a currency exchange program to help with the basics...

What a cool find! Good luck with the rest of the mystery!
