Found in old fireplace

I found this in an old house between the bricks behind the mantle of an old fireplace. Anyone have any idea what it might be? Thanks.

Might have been some sort of cooking pot hanger.

If the fire place had a iron damper it may have been something to hold it open.

Looks like part of a door latch....the part that slides in and out??

It looks like a vintage wrought iron chain bolt piece.
Could be for the flue or damper of the fireplace.
Or for a Victorian/Moorish era door. Circa 1800's.

That might be it. it was on a brick when I ripped off the mantal of an old fireplace. You could see the brick where it was if you looked from inside the closet that was right next to the fireplace. Maybe it was from the closet door.
