Anyone have any idea what type of horseshoe this is or what time frame one like this would’ve been used? I’ve looked through tons of internet sites and from pictures, it looks to be a 19th century type shoe.

Sweet find, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

I Don't know what the clay in KY Looks like, maybe it's yellow Clay.
But it appears to
be painted Yellow, Which makes me think Decorative Door Shoe .

Or used in a Game of Horse Shoes
rather then on an Animal.

I'm not seeing Multiple Tack Holes Either.

But I Could be Wrong.

Nice Find Though. Been many years since I Pulled any of Those out the ground.

Only issue with that theory is you can see the natural wear on the front, so its been worn.
I wonder if the nails have rusted up the holes?

I thought mule when I saw it.

I have found many old shoes in the fields over the years. I will check to see if i have any shaped similar.

It is a mule shoe with extended caulks, probably from a rear foot.

Good Point,i'm sure i'm wrong,:tongue3: but I Now wonder If being thrown in allot of games of Horse shoes on gravel would wear it down

The horse shoes for throwing/pitching vs the ones that are for horse/mule are different in style.
Though some riding/work shoes have been used for throwing.

The throwing style have a inward slopped hook.

I agree with creskol...Looks like a mule shoe. I’ve only ever found one. Not sure why the yellow. Congrats!
