This is my first coin. Took a while to figure out what it is but in the end I was able to read 1899 Indian Head One Cent coin.

Here's a picture.

I've also found a couple of "globs" of what appears to be melted brass. I'll take some pictures and post later. Wondering why it would appear to be melted? Were they buttons (about the right size) but over time that is what they look like as they begin to degrade or after the other metals corrode?

I'm finding this is addicting. Every time I get a few minutes I run out to the field with the metal detector.

Congrats on your first coin! And an Indian to boot! HH.

cool find. addicting? oh yea, it is for sure. there is no cure, but constant digging helps the itch

I find it very addictive also, Nice find, post the other blobs/pix, you got me curious. Then hurry back out to that "field", look in the area you found the Indian and go low and slow around that entire area again. Try to cover every square inch close by and see if you get anything else. Good luck!

Congrats on the Indian. There should be more out there to find. Keep Diggin!!

Congrats on your first!

LOOKS LIKE MY 1ST INDIAN - HOPEFULLY THE FIRST OF MANY GOOD COINS

Congrats on your first Indian, I am sure that there will be many more to come! Sweet find!

Congrats! I'm ready to get back out and looking at all the finds today makes me even more ready.

Nice blob, I can't really tell much from that photo, looks pretty far away and no way to tell how big it is, keep looking and good luck!

Congrats on your first IH, WTG!

if you are in va always exspect to find some burnt items, i have dug blobs of different metals out of pits. always detect thos areas well. nice coin, i have yet to find one!

Went out in the yard yesterday for about 2 hours in the evening. Found what I believe is an old USMC button. I can't exactly tell how old just yet though. The inside is much cleaner than the outside so it leads me to believe the back got pulled off when I was digging. I'm going to try to go out later today to see if I can locate the back side.
