Found Indian Artifact... I think..

I found this in a creek in Seguin Tx (central TX) and I think it's an old grinding stone. Help?

I think you found their old gris mill. Looks to be a hammer stone and a medate you have. If the round one isn't a hammer, it's the Mano for a larger medate, I would think. Way to go

The cupped stone is a natural occurring Geo fact. The round ball is speculative unless found with other artifacts. Mother nature made many round balls. Good eye though. Flint chips is usually the first sign.

Yeah, the round ball is either an ancient game stone or a historic relic from a ball mill or something of the like. Context should point towards one or the other.

Welcome to tnet! I would of picked up that stone ball myself. It is one of the hardest things to prove as being a artifact imo. But they are neat anyway. Thanks for the post and I hope to see more of your finds, rock

Nice finds. You can find a lot of perfectly round rocks in areas that were near the edge of ancient seas. There is a place along SH-19 in Caddo County, Oklahoma where a bunch of these occur. People would go there and get them and use them as forms for shaping rawhide rattles. People still use them for that, but the rawhide rattle has pretty much become a sort of old school thing. Gourds and Calumet baking powder cans are the more current thing.
