Found me a thing-a-ma-jig!......... Solved! Thanks guys!

Found this little guy in a swimming area. It is 9/16" x 1/8" not including the spring steel wire.
The wire can spin around in the groove. Maybe out of a fishing reel?
What say you?

It goes on a carburetor float {needle valve} stops the carburetor from getting to much gas

Thats it exactly. The wire attaches to a float tab and keeps it from getting stuck. Either someone rebuilt their carb or lost the tiny float valve. Without it they would flood. Maybe you can see it better here. http://www.williammaloney.com/Misc/TecumsehSnowblowerLawnmowerEngineFloods.htm

Hell yeah, Now i can fix my boat!!!!! lol.

Funny thing is, I have found a few of those over the years at a swimming hole by the marina here in VA,Only one with the spring intact though.I always thought they were some sort of valve for a propane tank or something, Kool I.d., Now just figure out which carb it came out of and put it on ebay,The owner can fix his broken down thing a ma bob,with your newly discovered thing a ma jig
