I was very confused when this popped out but I was happy to get my first silver dollar. It is well worn so I'm guessing it may have been someone's lucky coin or something like that.

It is actually bigger than a silver dollar and way bigger than a half but looks like a Walker so it totally confused me...

I was still very happy to find it.... HH

It is an American Silver Eagle. It is a collector coin, not a circulating coin. That is a really sweet find. it is a dollar, and silver, so indeed a silver dollar! Congrats.

The design on the obverse is the Adolf Weinman design that was used on the Walker, it was considered to be so awesome, that it was revived to appear on the ASE. That coin was not supposed to leave the house... oops.

Very nice find, Congrats!

GREAT recovery!! More silver in that than a Morgan or Peace dollar.

Based on the wear, someone carried that around in their pocket for a number of years.

BIG SILVER CONGRATS! That qualifies as a Silver Dollar all day long!! Sorta reminds me of my first ever Walker, I got it out of the hole and there was just enough dirt covering the date and I thought it was a 1987. I thought not even an authentic Walker but a 1980s era collector coin. After wiping away the dirt it revealed itself to be a 1937, either way I woulda been happy because it is Still Big Silver! Happy for you!

Big Ole chunk of 1 oz fine silver!
congrats on a great find

Super find, congratulations! Is that lawn area part of a sports field? That would be the ultimate "Heads or Tails" coin for an umpire to flip at the beginning of the game! Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

that is a real odd find to be out in the dirt and worn like that.

Awesome! Not many people will ever dig one of those - Congrats! :occasion18::blob6::blob3::blob6::occasion18: Andi

It's funny that people still loose silver coin even from the 80's nice find brother....

I found it at a lake by my house. I have found a few silvers and wheats there too. Some old timers told me people used to swim there years ago.

I was very surprised by how worn it was. I'm guessing someone carried it a lot. I have found much older coins with much less wear.

nice ASE! As mentioned, someone must've been carrying that in their pocket for years. Bet they were bummed because it takes quite a while to wear it down like that. Still a silver dollar though!

Big Mike for sure that is a collectors coin. Congrats on the great find!!

sweet find, congrats

That's a nice find for sure ! Technically it's a bullion piece (precious metal round ) You found the first year of issue for these
American Silver Eagles - Nice !

What is that? How many times have we all said that!!!

Technically it's 99.9 pure silver, a solf metal. It's not alloyed with any other metal like silver coins that are made for circulation so it will wear faster.

and the funny thing is, it is actually legal tender too.
