Detector(s) used
XP Deus with all the coils, MI-6 pinpointer, Ace350 and Garrett pro pointer.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Most of my swinging has been at newer parks and beaches that are hammered quite a bit by other swingers. Wanted to learn my machine before I hit the sweet spots. Friday I hit an old private spot and found 4 wheat pennies. I had other hits but it got dark on me. So when I went back I had a good feeling and sure enough I found my first silver.... a 1940 merc dime..... and a huge amount of trash. I know its not the biggest find but I am pumped up now.

Nice find! Thanks for sharing...

You'll remember the first one and it's a nice at that, hope this is gust one on the road to many to come for you.

Always a great day when you find your first silver. I regret to inform you that you may now be officially addicted to metal detecting. The only relief you will find is when you are out swinging your detector. 8-)

Congrats on your first Merc! :occasion14:
That excitement you felt will come back every time you find silver too!

Dave

There's just a special feeling every time you see that silver in the hole, or any old coin for that matter. The best part is that it never gets old.

Congrats on your 1st silver, and Mercury dimes are one of my favorites! Took me 8 months to find my 1st silver coin, a 42 quarter, couple days later got my 1st merc, was more excited by that! I love seeing that shiney silver in the hole, don't we all!

Congrats on your first silver coin. It is all down hill from this point. GL&HH!

Nice first!, my first was also a merc. Like ahab said, something about that silver in the hole is an awesome feeling, once you get that first one you're hooked, I suggest you seek counseling now, nothing will help the addiction lol!!

Congrats again!

gotta love it, the ice breaker! now for more and even gold!

It's official now............You're hooked! I remember when I first started, wiping off every coin to check the date and see if I found Silver. That was before I found some "Treasure Hunting" web sites and figured out Silver is Silver in the hole, I didn't know. When I found my first Silver, a 1912s Barber dime there it was shining back at me, no more wiping off to check dates!!!
Congrats on your first SILVER!!

Congrats of digging a beautiful silver coin. My first silver was a Roosevelt. My second was a Mercury. It was almost 3 years ago, and today, I still can see that Mercury laying heads up in the bottom of the hole. I couldn't believe my eyes. It had been almost 50 years since I saw the last one (1964 probably). I was 19 in 1964, so I remember all those merc's, and walking liberty's, ben franklins, and even I remember a few standing liberty quarters. This sport brings me back to when I was a kid collecting money for delivering newspapers on my bike.
HH everyone

Nothing like it! Congrats on your first.

Congrats! It's not easy in Florida with all the warm wether and other hunters to find old silver!

Congrats now you'll find more

May you find many many more! Nothing beats the feeling of a silver. I stare at and study each silver find, no matter how common, for hours. I hold each in my hand for hours and pester my wife to look numerous times. I text my friends, and family that haven't blocked me from sending too many coin pics. I have found tons of silvers, but silvers never ever get old to me.

Congrats again and savor each and ever find

My first silver was also a mercury dime. I very clearly remember how shiny it was coming out of the dirt compared to all the clad dimes and quarters I had previously dug. I thought not only is it pretty I don't have to do much cleaning on it either.

Congrats on what will surely be many more to come!
