Excitement was definitely rushing over me when I swung my metal detector over the ground near my house. My metal detector received a high pitch tone mixed in with a middle tone. It was a weird signal and kept coming up as coins and aluminum/zinc. At first I wasn't expecting it to be a coin but still the excitement retained. That old coin symbol can be deceiving but i continue to dig anyway. With my hands shaking nervously, and hoping it wasn't a pull tab, I dug only about an inch deep. I swung over the hole and received no signal so I swung again over the small lump of grass i pulled out. Boom, the signal popped up and it was a beautiful sound. Excited, thinking this maybe it, the big one I've been waiting for. After removing some dirt from the roots of the grass, I at last found it. A shiny round object that turned out to be a 1942 silver Mercury dime with a D mark. Yep, that's right, I found my first silver after 4 years of metal detecting. I've always dreamed of finding one of these someday with my metal detector and now i finally got my chance. I Found it near my house on the side of the driveway and this has recently been a good hunting spot so far and I'm gonna continue looking there tomorrow now that the weekend is here. So for the time being, enjoy!

Congratulations. You would think you would have found it quicker being you use a quick silver! LOL Mike

Congratulations, the stuff is out there !!

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

4 years and you found it in your own yard! It sounds like you have a good place right under your nose to find some great targets. Good luck and hit every inch of that yard!

Congratulations and I hope you find more!

Thanks! It sure is, just need to know where to look.

Nothing quite like firsts.

It looks like you sort of savor the moment and the potential when you dig a hole. I do the same. Especially on good signals.
I know the really good ones don't come every day so I want to live the moment as long as I can. (Unless I only have a minute or two to hunt. ;) )

It's like opening a Christmas gift real slow, enjoying the anticipation. It also helps to keep from digging a mustache into Miss Liberty. ;)

WTG!
HH!

Such endurance. I would have given up and taken up basket weaving if it took me that long to find a silver. Great find, I hope more are in your not to distant future.

Very nice first silver find Congrats ! Remember the old saying "where there's wheaties there's silver - also if you have some friends who own older property , tell
them about your hobby , and ask if they'll let you hunt their yards !

Very nice coin, Relic! Congrats on your first silver.
