The button that you found is listed on page 36 in Alberts Button book.ID # GI 79-C-4.Infantry;
1-piece convex,plated.I believe the button was made March 27th 1821.That is a very nice find.

Here is one for sell for $55.00 but this one isn't like yours.This one is unlisted and is a two piece.My price guide is the 11th edition,I don't know if there is a more newer one out but mine list your button

I have no knowledge to speak of about buttons, but the reverse of the found button seems to have mold marks which gives me the impression of molded plastic :icon_scratch:
Could it be a modern replica?
I hope it's the real thing - it is certainly an awesome looking button.

This one is most certainly the real deal, and it has been ID'ed correctly.
