They are Southern folk art pieces called face jugs. Way cool and some bring big time dough. I really like them :icon_thumleft: Got any details size , where you bought them ect.....

If memory serves me right Dewey is a well known Face jug artist...they may be worth a good bit.. I think Diggumup knows about these Jugs...

I saw the title of this thread and got really excited for a moment...

I love those and collect them. Let me know if they are for sale! :hello2: :headbang:

Nice finds. Here is a little info on Tom Wintczak who's from Evansville, Ind.

Not much online about Conner Prairie other than it's an interactive History Park in Fishers,Ind.. Here is another example that sold for $75 - http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/4054123
As far as the Dewey marked piece goes, I don't know but since your other 2 pieces were from Indiana potters, that may be a clue as to the Dewey piece too. I also have a small Dewey Jug, here it is-

thanks for the info ,only live about 60 miles away from indiana that would explain the possibilty that they are all from ind

Get out there and find some Meaders pieces. I am always looking out for their stuff since they live about 20 minutes from here.

Yes, Conner Prairie is a living history place. I've been there many times.

They do/did have a potter working most days, selling the wares he/she made.

ODD isn't the right word... its UGLY! lol

I found some "jugs" once at a garage sale too, but they were attached to a stingy 45+ divorcee! :blob7:
In all seriousness though, look at the bottom of your find (for maker's marks) and then start googling & ebaying to come up with like matches. In this way you'll be able to find out if you've got trash or treasure....

Did you read the posts above? He already "looked at the bottom" of the jugs and they were identified...
