I was walking through some Native American land on the coast of central California. I typically find arrowheads and other small native treasures. Today I found these bullets. They are very heavy for their size. I'm not sure if they were Native American era or if they came after. Could they have been used against or by the Natives. What type of gun are they from? Can anyone help me solve the mystery?

Not that old, in my opinion. Bullets with a copper jacket were invented in the 1880's. Those are probably from the 1900's, though.

Because of the width, or diameter, I would have to agree with Plateau hiker. They look like shotgun slugs, probably from a deer hunter.

Just measure the one that's not squished. That will give you the caliber of the bullet, and looking at them from your photo I'd be saying they're not that old in respect to how long lead has been flying out of the end of barrels. I guess at .45 cal. pistol

One can cal them "Slugs " as well but the Slugs around here usually come out after a good Rain leave streaks behind them & have a 'Sticky icky feel ' to them.

AKA as " Cap's' in certain Hood's.
