Found on Beach in UK, help me identify!

[Shipwrecks]

Found this thing on a beach in the UK, its solid iron and is very heavy. Signs of what looks like where a handle was. Maybe a cup. Help!

[jewelerguy]

if it's solid on one end, perhaps a 16th century signal cannon?
