Thanks. I wonder what the definition of “Blazer Button” is.
Interesting! There could be some nice military buttons around that mill depending on how old it is. I have been hunting a 19th century paper mill and have found a lot of buttons around where the workers houses stood, including a number of one piece military buttons. They used rags to make paper back then. I haven't found the button "dump" yet and suspect it might be under a large landfill area.Welcome to Tnet. You clearly have an interesting Island. Not many people know about the Shoddy process & I never realised it every got outside of Great Britain, as it started in Yorkshire. Nearly all my button from the 19th C to 1930s were dumped on the field because of either burning wool clothes or the by-product of the Shoddy Mills, ie. the Mungo.
Here is a little info for those that don't know:
What is Shoddy?
You might find other War related items other than buttons, specially if the Mill was operating after WWI & WWII. Like foriegn coins, badges, religious pendants etc...
The bottom right looks like a United States Marine Corps button to me. The top left is a U.S. Air Force button. That button would not be older than 1947 I believe.
Agreed, bottom right is a Marine Corps button. If the buttons were orientated correctly and a pic of the backs included, a more specific ID might be possible.
