These two were found on the trial today.
While we were walking through Little Dominguez Canyon In Western CO.
I made a promise a while back to keep and post the next two I found.
Molly I hope they are good enough... LOL

they are unusually thick for here,
but were found in an area known for ancient stuff.

The lighter (larger) one has an ambered looking patina like the desert here.
The actual material is whitish calcedony or quartz like matrix. very nice in appearance.

Thanks for sharing Thom....I am always scanning the ground for artifacts when in the outdoors. Do you mean that you normally walk by them and leave them on the trail?.....Steve

Yes I mean exactly that Steve,
I don't collect them and know only a few who do.
so I leave them lay.
Not just points but ALL artifacts.
even corn. LOL

Thom, those are AWESOME! I could never leave them sit for someone else to step on and break. I'd have to bring them home and keep them safe. Thanks for saving those sweet point. Great lookers!

You have any squirrels around that area?

The crack is all of 25 to 30 feet to the bottom.
Had to zoom into the hole and hold the camera below the edge so that the flash would give full value at the bottom. You almost have to lay flat on the rock and totally shade your eyes to see down that far.

No, not many squirrels out here, too many predators and not enough protection.
The squirrels we do see are focused mainly on the pinion nuts and larger seed producing evergreens, and the larger tuberous roots that are plentiful and more available than that ear of corn.

LOL

Wow! Cool finds and a special person to be able to NOT pick up artifacts. hats off to you for that ;D I would have to repel down into that hole.
