Just the small one in the last two pictures we cracked it open it had very small but many veins that look like lightning bright silver in the sunlight, looks almost black out of sun having a hard time getting a picture that looks right

No, no, no, and I do not open attachments.

I would suggest you take a little trip to the Amazon and select a few good guides on meteorites. When I wander around central Nevada, I always have mine with me.

Time for more coffee.

Was just a simple question just trying to figure out what the rocks are so can teach the kids what they are

Never once said I was a expert or did I say any weee meteorites for sure. Interesting rocks me and the kids pulled up from the ground

No need to be a dick about the whole thing check your coffee seems like someone pissed in it

The way I understand it is meteorites are magnetic, so get a strong magnet and give it a go, and let us all know.

Thanks very novice when comes to rocks, will do for sure these rocks just were unlike anything dug up around it. Was hoping maybe came across something that could be special and someone might be able to tell just by looking, or helping in finding what type of rock it would be.

Thanks for magnet idea always knew of it, no idea why it never came to me

Your thread title brought up the idea of meteorites.

Many terrestrial rocks will be attracted to a magnet. While it is an indicator, it is not definitive. Much of the 3/4 minus crushed basalt in my driveway is attracted to magnets.

Good guides help immensely for experienced and novices alike. I have several on meteorites and also several on identifying rock types.

Can you tell us what characteristics of these rocks lead you to believe they may be meteorites? Or any other rock type, for that matter. Perhaps describing those characteristics would be helpful in getting a more detailed opinion.

It is almost always time for more coffee.

No, my name is not Richard.

The fact it looked like no other of the rocks around caught my attention was just looking through images on google some seemed to have looked like it , the whole third picture post are the same rock minus the last 2 that we split open and saw those what I'd call lightning lines in it sincenlook silver and gray off like bolts.

But yes to answer your question looked like a few a had just seen on google images found the rocks interesting was wondering if would be able to figure out what they would be seems to be made up of several different minerals from rust colour to black so thought it could be something.

And ignore the first two posts of the pictures I realize those are not but was wondering more towards the 3rd post of images. First two were just to find out what kind of rocks they could be never seen a pure red rock inside around here before . Not silver streaks in the last post of pictures

Happy to help when I can. At 31 posts you're still new to T-Net, so let me offer a warm welcome to the What-Is-It? forum, the best place on the internet to get unknown objects CORRECTLY identified. That being said, I think T-Net also has a "rocks & minerals" forum, where you might have better luck at rock-ID than here in W-I-I forum.

At my age, I'm not the Rockhound I used to be. Forgotten too much rocks'n'minerals stuff from waaay back then. Still... if I recall correctly... your first set of photos appears to show a version of Granite which contains white quartz, green Olivene, pink Feldspar, and black Biotite.

Can we please get any and all posts about rocks moved to where they belong. This is not the place or the audience. People always end up butt-hurt.

^ ok..............., so the black glitterish one is basically a hunk of biotite mica. The one with the pink and white is basically a igneous rock with feldspar and quartz and some other minerals. The reddish rocks are iron stained. at one time iron rich waters poured over them and over time stained them, other than that I can't tell what they are. And as someone else commented check the suspected meteorite with a magnet, or if you can get someone to give you a cross section cut, that'll tell you (they have unique patterning when cut).
