Found this ding dong wandering in the woods

Let me rephrase that.. I was wandering in the woods and found this ding dong.... ding dong bell, that is. Not much of a find, but it is silver and kind of interesting. From what I can find online, it is some sort of baby rattle or teething ring made by the Webster Company in the 1930s. Whatever baby dropped this thing is now in their late 80s, I guess. Happy hunting!

Thanks! My wife immediately thought choking hazzard too. Here is a photo of it next to a Mercury dime that I found elsewhere for scale. The Bell is in pretty good shape, though it has some staining from the iron clapper inside.

Nice find in an odd location for it. I wonder if it might have gotten repurposed long ago for a dog or cat collar that became separated from the bell?

Thanks! It is woods now, but a 1960 aerial photo shows it was some sort of farm pasture. Could have been re-purposed like you said, who knows; interesting idea.

I sure hope no one choked. This area was a pasture or field as late as 1960, so maybe they lost it while picnicing in the sunshine. Thanks for the comments.
