This sphere is non-magnetic, very hard, weighty and about 1.5 inches. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it looks like a stone cannon ball or shot. Last I read, they quit using these in the 16th century in England. IF it is, what would a 16th century stone cannon ball be doing in the woods of Eastern Ohio?

Any ideas on what this, or what it could be, or why it's here? Maybe a revolutionary or civil war leftover?

To me it looks like a game ball or a grinding stone used by our Native Americans…

could have been used by pre-historic man, probably made by a glacier.
worked in a gravel pit most of my life, mining glacially deposit sand and gravel.
Stones like that are not common, but they are often found at the bases of conveyor belts, as they can roll back down the belt.
I have seen some as big as 12" in diameter.
