This is my first post here, but I have been checking out the threads here since I have just started panning as a hobby to do with my son. I have been practicing with some paydirt I bought online and came across this today. The paydirt is from Georgia.
Any ideas what it is? I'm sorry the pics aren't the best. Thanks everyone.

Possibly pyrite if its brittle, smack it with a hammer. If it shatters then pyrite

Thanks.
It was way down deep in the black sands too, just like the gold.

Looks like the bits of pyrite I find here in OK. It's mostly iron so it should be down in the heavies. Push on it with your fingernail, it will probably shatter.
