That suppose to say... any help would be appreciated!

Its hard to tell from photos but I don't see anything that looks like gold.

I agree with russau - Mica or pyrite, PaleoPrincess. The first and last pictures are most revealing. Google images of "mica conglomerate" and you'll probably find some similar images.

Those are cool rocks though. Where (generally) did you find them? (i.e. what state?)

I didn’t think it was real gold, but it’s definitely not mica. Could be pyrite but I looked at pics of that and it doesn’t look the same. It is hard to get a good picture, but in person it sparkles so brightly gold. I am in Maryland, these were found in fresh water bay.

Most closely resembles Mica to me.

Good luck to you PaleoPrincess. Tried to help. Unsubscribing from the thread.

There is definitely gold colored mica out there in the world...a lot of it. i curse its existence like mosquitos and k-pop.

However, some of the samples with gold-ish flecks look like chalcopyrite (copper sulfate) The best way to tell is mica will glimmer in light but dull in the shade.

However, the rocks themselves appear like a migmatic gneiss so there going to be tons of mica, in various forms so all pf us are likely to be right.

You said it sparkles. That's the giveaway. Gold doesn't sparkle. It's bright gold whether in the sun or shade.
