from a post 7 July 2012...The story begins that I had lost a wedding band at bottom of my driveway. Thanks to several youtube videos which gave great advice on EMI for V3i and a small DD whites 6x10 coil. EMI was coming from electrical poles on my road. Basically I used air method, turn in a full circled and clicked 2.5 KHtz Frq ONLY. in Gold mode since that was most stable platform down there. The spectra was super unstable. TONS of iron and EMI....Boy my ex was pissed that day, that ring was a replacement and the new ring was on my fingure<24 hours...My ex been gone for 20 years and 15 years of detecting at driveway, I am STILL trying to find it. EMI, Ole barb wire, nails, are making it difficult.

Fast forward 28 July 2012 and a newly purchased DD 5x3 eclipse coil from ebay. I started out at a abandoned state camp ground and left spad at the house( insert swear word here). Lucky for me I had small sand scoop which was hard to dig. 2 hours later and as I always do, I work/finish at the bottom of the driveway where I lost the ring. The new small coil was small but SUPPER stable in coin jewlery mode. And pin point worked too which hardly ever did because of EMI/larger coils in my inventory. I said to my self this it Im going find the ring today. 1 hour later and no negative VDI's from barb wire and I hit a 27 VDI and it was stable. No junk hiding it... 2.5 inches and under a root/poisin ivy.:smileinbox: 2012-07-28 11.58.00.webp2012-07-28 11.59.42.webp2012-07-28 12.00.00.webp2012-07-28 12.00.23.webp

Way to go! See, it wasn't really lost afterall.....

My Spectra machine was soooo un-stable and years trail and error, bits pieces of barb wire, nails, skeeters, ivy and treaded EMI... Yeah cudamark kinda right and the right coil helped too.

Neat story.I may have to buy a smaller coil for my White XLT.

Good story. I have a 5.3 inch coil for my XLT and a 4 x 6 Eclipse DD coil on my V3i. I very rarely use a bigger coil anymore.

I actually stole it on ebay. The whites 5x3 is 149.00 retail. The bidding ended at 71.00 AND a Whites Bullseye II came with it...Dont get me wrong I was ever so lightly to adjust my machine because of EMI but in pinpoint mode it chatter/chriped like an ole lady on bingo night....I am selling my Whites 1400 DD on ebay right NOW! Not V3i rated but good coil...

Nice find. Congratulations!!

Then you had two good finds then with the EBay purchase.

Great find! I thought if you loose jewlery, and lets say its a gold ring, you swipe your detector over a ring like it,then disable all other modes on your machine, but that sound. All youshould come up with for pinging sounds, is the gold ring sound.
HH and glad you found it!

Awesome find.:icon_thumleft:

Persistance pays off.... Congrats!
