Frames #5 & #6 of Grandpa's artifacts

These two frames have some really neat pieces. Frame #5 has a pipe bowl in it. It looks like it has seams so I am assuming its a trade piece(?). Also in this frame, above the bowl of pipe, is an odd shaped artifact(#39). Does anyone know anything about what this could have been? There are lots of little bird points on here and #19 is another odd shaped piece.

Frame #6 has a cool point(#31)--is this a spear point or blade? I tried to take a closeup of it. It has some beautiful flaking and a raised ridge on one side. Are the drills like #9 on this frame, reworked Daltons? There is another smaller piece that had come loose off this second frame and looks like it started out as a Dalton(?) but is rounded off on the tip. Is it maybe a scraper? I took a closeup of it, too.

This has been great fun for mom and I to share these with everyone! Thanks for looking and all the comments on the previous posts! Kind regards, sandcreek4

Yes the clay pipe is a trade good. I think I may have one like it. Thank you so much for sharing all this Sandcreek the post have been great. The scraper does look like a dalton or quad type and the really wild one is probably what they call an exotic.May have been made for something specific. Let the experts figure out the rest.
Thanks,
TnMountains

That pipe of yours is exactly like this one! Do you have an idea on a date for the piece? Wasn't the trade era mid 1700's to mid 1800's?
I'll have to research "exotic" artifacts and see if I can find anything similar to this piece.
Thanks so much TnMountains for your input--I really appreciate ya!! Kind Regards~~~sandcreek4

Re: Frames #5 & #6 of Grandpa's artifacts

Once again, another fantastic couple of frames of artifacts. Looks like some nice Daltons in there as well as some really nice Birdpoints and I also see what looks like a Hematite Celt in one of the trays. Thanks for sharing these pictures with us sandcreek. We all greatly appreciate it.

You're kindly welcome, DorkFish! And thank you for enjoying these with me and my family! I think you are right about that celt being "hematite", I just wasn't sure what to call it and am still trying to learn my lithics :icon_study:. Do some people call hematite "ironstone"? Or is that some other material?
Kind Regards~~sandcreek4

I'm glad that's all it was ::)! That kinda scared me when you said "graver" because I thought you meant something to do with a burial grave and grandpa wouldn't have gone near anything like that! He stuck mostly to plowed fields and rivers/creeks. Thanks so much Jamey for explaining that for me ~~~regards, sandcreek4

You are correct on your dates. I have heard many, many, tales about this particular style pipe and have seen several. Its easy to duplicate but... they have turned up in many villages all over. The last story that I heard was that a huge cache of them had been found up North. I beleive that this type traveled with the fur trade. Behind my pipe is a trade axe I found kicked out of a deer trail during an archery hunt. Both items the pipe and the axe I found on Desotos trail near known villages on the Tennessee River. I think the trade pipe is 1700's though not 1500's.
Enjoying all your post by the way. : )
