We frequent our local free shed at our transfer station every week. Today was no exception and the visit paid off! An older gentleman had just dropped off a box full of vintage newspapers and such. I was pretty much right behind him and saw the one on the top. 1945 NY Times " the war is over". I didn't even go through them. Just grabbed the box and gleefully placed it in my car. I was amazed by what I found in the box after going through it. I think the best find is the framed picture of James Russell Lowell with a cut out of an actual signature of his. Dated '70 for 1870. I've done a bit of research and am pretty positive it's the real deal. It looks like it was cut out from a letter or something similar. Still not quite sure the value but a very cool find. And of course all of the news papers too. All original and not copies. The Hindenburg is a cool one too! A couple of local papers as well about two floods from the past.
