Hello all,

I dug what I assume is a French copper. What I would like to know is what type of coin it is and from what era?

I apologize for not having anything in the photo for size comparison. But, it is just slightly smaller than a quarter and slightly larger than a nickel. It is also quite thin.

It is well worn and all I can make out is three fleur-de-lis with the letter D above them. The other side has some letters on the outer edge but I can't read them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

French Liard, 1655, 56, or 57. D is the Lyon mint.

Thanks for the picture. It's nice to be able to see what my coin should look like.
