Greetings from the center of the Great Black swamp. I've been dying to get out
and finally today I thought I'd have a chance. However as I was heading out after work ,my Ins. agent stopped by wanting to discuss my college savings plans for my boys. I forgot he was coming. So
I sit down with him for almost an hour. Ugh I'm losing daylight. He leaves and I take off. It's a half hour drive and I decide to park next to an abandoned factory next to the site. Not my usual spot
but I'm in a hurry. I'm racing daylight at this point. It's about a 25 minute walk until I'm at the heart of the site. Then boom ,bam, bang! I find three points in about 20 minutes. That's impressive as I have never found more than one at a time at this site let alone 3 all at once. I leave happily in the fading light.
When I get to my car there is a police car blocking me in and an officer who wants to chat.
He explains that someone called in a suspicious vehicle report. I explain what I've been up to
and show him my finds. He decides that there are probably more dangerous criminals
than me and wishes me a good evening.

Photo 1 and 2 are of the big one.A very nice Hopewell. It was probably broken and then reshaped
by it's owner into the rounded tipped scraper/knife we see today. Very good size and material for
my area.

Photo 3 is of the other two I found today. A busted tipped triangle and what appears to be perhaps
another Woodland point.

Photo 4 is of other points from same site, including a super-notched Snyder's point.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Nice finds, and in only 20 minutes! I would spend as much time as possible at that site.

Nice finds unitas. The point in picture #4 that you call a Snyders looks more like a classic Jacks Reef to me.

Just something to consider.

Killer pieces, thanks for the photos.

Nice finds for sure. I am with Dorkfish......Jack's Reef all the way!
Congrats,
Chuck

Thanks guys.I thought Snyder's was another name for Jack's Reef points. I usually call
them Jacks but last night I typed Snyder's. Is a Snyder point different. I'm curious now.
Thanks again. -------sweet notches on that bad boy by the way ,Huh.

I hope to get back today, weather permitting.Yesterday was a rare day for me though, I usually have to work a lot harder for my artifacts.

unitas, here is a picture of a classic Snyders Point. You can definitely see the difference.

IYou are correct. I was initially confused, perhaps a bit tired when I made my original post. I inadvertanately I.D.ed a Jack,s Reef point as a Snyders. For some reason I thought they were the same thing. I've since checked my Converse as well and can clearly see how a large Hopewell could easily be confused with a Snyders. However there is no reason to confuse a Snyders with anything I've found. I'm still learning everyday and mis-speak more than I like.-------------Happy Hunting,U

Yeah me too, i dont care much for all the regional names put on pieces i just like to find em, to dam confusing on some pieces.I've taken points to a archy meeting we have in my county these guys are real archys 2 different points each got 4 different names put on it so i give up on id lol.keep on lookin...

There will always be debates on typology but, no matter, finding them is the best part.
Congrats on your finds..

Molly.
