Went to 3 spots tonight. The first spot that I discovered on Google Earth (another old grass triangle next to a church) gave up a 1853 large cent (my 9th in 3 weeks!!), then a buffalo nickel, and finally a 1888 IH penny. The second spot stunk but the 3rd spot which was an old field gave up a 1925 merc. 9 wheats were found.

Just got an OK via email to hunt a church built in 1830 and I think it sits on land of previous churches.

Need more coppers & OLD SILVER!

That night hunting is tricky.
May I ask what you use fore lighting?

Great finds, When you use goggle earth do you have a sight in mind or what do you look for ?

It's not the greatest but I use a small LED flashlight (about the size of an AA battery) and I hold it between my teeth. I had a snake light which wrapped around my neck but it aint workin.

I look at an old map to see where the population was. Then I look at GE to see if anything interesting in that area. I also research @ Google Books and read the history of the towns near me.

why do you hunt at night? seems like that would be difficult and don't people think you look suspicious at night doing it?

Great assortment of finds. WTG

Nice finds... Keep 'em coming....

Not sure where you are in Mass. But, in Wayland, it was 21 degrees this morning when I got up. You must have been pretty chilly out there last night. You're more dedicated than I am.

Good job !!!

nice job on the large cent and the 1925 merc!

Only time I have available during the week. I don't find it difficult to hunt at night as long as I have lighting. No one has given me any trouble really.

I'm in South Eastern Mass. It only got down to 33 degrees last night. Was warmer than I was expecting. Detecting is an obsession at the moment.

Nice pile of change there ;D Congrats on the copper and silver.

Great finds!! You're killing 'em on the LC's!

Hunting at night, do you get the opportunity to meet the local gendarmes much?

Yes. Last night they asked me what I was doing. The cop was a nice one though and let me stay. I've had at least 3 encounters in the last 3 weeks hunting at night.

That Buff' looks pretty ruff. Great finds and good research.
