$390.00 in halves- Found 20-40% silver halves and 3-1964 silver halves.

$10.00 in nickels-Found two rolls with all pre 1960 nickels. They were turned in with rolls that were marked wheats. However, the rolls marked wheats had been removed and they were in very old bank wrappers.

Also found 2-1945 Canadian nickels, and a 1933 Canadian penny with glue on the back. I don't usually keep Canadian coins but these have been the oldest I've seen so I'm going to keep them.

ODD Penny ??? 1982 silver color and I can't tell if it has been dipped or plated. It was in the older penny rolls, but it's from 1982 so I don't know what to think about it.

Also found a 1996 penny with a circle on the front/back of Lincoln's head. I don't think it was done at the mint, most likely someone altered it. What do you think?

I'm still working on a lot of pennies and I'll post the results later.

What a great bunch of finds Pennyworth! Show's you how interesting searching pennies and nickels can be. Congrats on all the goodies! Yeah, looks like someone abused poor Abe's Memorial.

Definitely a couple of odd ones to add to your collection. Don't know what to think about the 1982 Lincoln. ???

WTG PW. Nice job on the silver. I think the 82 penny was plated. That is some very intersting finds there.....nice. You sure know how to work those pennies over.

Kudos!

Good stuff, PW! That 1945 Canadian V nickel is a great find. If you look around the edge of the reverse, you'll see some Morse code that Immy decoded for one that I found once... I believe it was, "We win when we work together willingly" or some such phrase, intended to inspire the Allied war effort to win WWII.

Congrats on your finds!

Bob

Is the obverse of the 96 penny with the ring indented or is it smooth? Hard to tell from the pic.

Jim

The obverse is smooth. Curiousity is killing me,what are you thinking about the coin? :)

Hi Bob, OK at first I thought am I blind. LOL But now I see it, thanks for information. That makes the coin more special now to me,very cool. Also thanks to Immy for decoding the code.

Everyone, thank you for all the replies and information. I have another question, are there coin books available for Canadian coins? I would assume there are,and if so has anyone ever purchased them at a local coin shop or do you have to special order them. It would be fun to try to fill one of those up. Like I said I've never collected all the Canadian coins before and I just wouldn't have a place for all of them except in 2x2's.

PW, back in the day Whitman (the blue folders) used to make Canadian folders but I don't think they do anymore, and even if you can find one, Volume 1 only goes from 1920-1972. I used a plain Whitman "Cents" (simply a blank book with no dates below the holes) for Canadian pennies. I started it with the first "Georgies" (1937) and still have plenty of room for 15 more years. Nickels and dimes fit in their respective books too.

One thing I've noticed though is the newer "Cents" books have slightly smaller holes so it takes a little effort to get 'em in. Nickels are best started from 1963 and dimes from 1968.

Thank you Immy, I've seen a lot of Canadian pennies and nickles lately. Some older ones are in the rolls I still have. I think I'm going to open them up again and take them out. I also found approximately 180 pre 1982 pennies that look like newer pennies. At first I thouht they were the crummy zinc ones and then I realized they were older. So I kept all of them, I'm amazed how nice they look. They also came out of the rolls marked wheats. Someone must have gone thru a relatives collection and kept the wheats and replaced with the other pennies. Or it could have been done at the bank, I'm not sure.
