NW Indiana, there's silver in dem grounds!!!
Detector(s) used
Minelab (Xterra50) and Garrett (Ace 250)<-Gone to dad in Montana
Met up with 9volt in central IL for a weekend hunt (sat morning and afternoon). Another awesome TNeter and now a friend of mine. Hit a couple of local parks where I was skunked,....again.... except clad. Folks are starting to call me the clad cleaner :o But it's all money and I am happy to be digging targets and learning the machine!!

9volt hit 3 silvers, (2 mercs, 1 rosie) at the two parks. After a few hours I got the call I was waiting for, we got permission to hunt an old farm house ;D

We only had an hour and a half to hunt as I was due to be back at my in laws to grill. We started swinging in the front yard and in no time 9volt hit another merc. I dug a memorial at 4inches,....then about 5 minutes after him I finally hit SIVLER, a 1917 merc!!!!! at 8 inches deep!!!! You talk about a confidence boost!! :o I looked over at 9volt and gave him the thumbs up signal!! I found myself smiling and pumped up! I can now hear what I'm after!! Hours of swinging and it just clicked!! We ended the trip sometime after that.

The next morning around the in laws place I had an hour to get out and hit a school area near their house. I dug a penny signal at 7 inches or so, WHEATIE 1950's!! At this point I am starting to wonder how many of these targets I have been walking over ???

Well the family and I drove back to NW Indiana Sun. afternoon. We got everything unpacked and the wife laid down for a nap! PERFECT, grabbed the machine and hit a school yard about 5 miles from the house. The school is from the 40's maybe and still in operation. So I dug 4 pieces of clad around this group of big trees. Then it happened again!!!! I got that deep signal and at 7-8 inches I dug a 1916D,.....wheatie that is!!! hehehehehe :D

It was starting to get dark so headed home with my find, looked in my coin book and sure enough I didn't have the d mintmark!!!

Sorry about dragging this post out but I have got the bug now for sure!! I love this hobby, the people and the hunt!! I will post pics as soon as possible, I already have the merc and the wheat in my coin books!

lionhrt9,

Don't worry about the length of the read. It was real nice. Got a good sense of what you were going through, and the excitement you were feeling. Wait till you hit your first bling of the golden ring! If you haven't already. I am elated for your finds, and learning process!!! Let's hope they won't be so far apart from here on in! ;D

Paul

Thank you for the reply. I have not hit that gold yet, but I know it is right around the corner. I forgot to post that I also found my first ring this weekend. It is a junk kids ring, but none the less Lionhrt's first. My wife is even wearing it on her finger just as a good luck token so that I can find her something better!!! :D
